Obituary: EL PASO -- C. William "Bill" Vandegraft, 68, of 25 W. Second St. died at 3:50 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 1994, at BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal.
Born July 31, 1926, in Clarksville to Jesse "Bud" and Luscina Barnett Vandegraft, he married Mary Kearfott on Nov. 2, 1949, in Eureka. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Yvonne McKinley of Kappa, Cora Parrish and Becky Vandegraft, both of El Paso; two sons, Doug of Ojai, Calif., and Mike of Secor; two sisters, Janelle Roseman of Eureka and Helen Whitacre of Hudson; three brothers, Jim of Danvers, Cliff of Eureka and Jerry of Chillicothe; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. One son, Eddy, preceded him in death.
He worked for Ulrich Fabricating in Roanoke and later for Rivinius Fabricating in Eureka, retiring in 1991.
A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of El Paso American Legion and a charter member of Lake Bloomington American Legion. He also was a member of El Paso Christian Church.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Froelich Memorial Home in El Paso. The Revs. Jim Derby and Dale Wise will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the memorial home. Burial will be in Hinthorn Cemetery in rural Hudson, where military rites will be conducted by the El Paso American Legion.
