M. Pauline Henthorne, [sic] 96, of Spencer, W.Va., died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at the Roane General Hospital, Spencer, after an extended illness.
Pauline was born Oct. 1, 1911, in Roane County, a daughter of the late Edward Straley and Lillian Walker Straley Hylbert. She was a Spencer High School graduate, a homemaker and a farmer and a long-time member of the Alexander Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading and gardening.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Freida and Jim Wood of Spencer; five grandchildren, Mike, Kevin and Keith Wood, Bruce Henthorn and Terry Devine; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Argle Henthorn; one son, Arnold Henthorn; and one brother, Bryon Straley.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Charles Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer. Visiting hours are from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family suggests donations be made to the Roane County Library, 110 Parking Plaza, Spencer, WV 25276.
