OBITUARY:
Nettie Mae Clegg, 91, Beverly, Ohio, died Wednesday [1 Oct 1980] at Selby General Hospital, Marietta. She was born at Rockport, W.Va. [1 May 1889], a daughter of the late Henry W. and Sarah Frances Drum Clegg.

She was a member of the Ullman Street Church of Christ at Beverly and of the Freeport Church of Christ. She lived in the Walker, W.Va. area before moving to Beverly several years ago.

She is survived by a sister, Opal Clark of Beverly, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Services were conducted Saturday afternoon at McCurdy Funeral Home with the Rev. Jess Nutter officiating. Burial was in the Rockland Cemetery, Belpre.

OBITUARY: Mrs. Mattie Atkinson Phipps, 82, well known resident of the Macksburg, [OH] community and a member of the early families there, died at her home at Macksburg on Wednesday evening following decline.

Mrs. Phipps was the daughter of the late Isaac and Hannah Atkinson. She was born at Macksburg and spent the greater part of her life there. She spent her early girlhood in Marietta, [OH] when the Atkinson home was at Fifth and Montgomery streets. Mrs. Phipps was the last member of the family of brothers and sisters.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Reba Bailey of Findlay; and one grand daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Davis of Akron. The deceased was a member of the Macksburg Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at the Macksburg Methodist Church on Saturday at 2 p.m.

OBITUARY: Former Resident of Marietta is Dead
Funeral services for Mrs. Hugh Kerr, 72, former resident of Marietta, [OH], who died at her home in Parkersburg, [WV] on Sunday morning, will be held at the home on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be made in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Mrs. Kerr, who was the daughter of Isaac and Hannah Atkinson, was born at Cameron, [OH] on November 30, 1855. The family moved to Marietta when the deceased was a young girl.

Following her marriage to Charles Hugh Kerr of Newport, in 1879, she went to Evansville, Ind., to live and later made her home in Parkersburg, where her daughters are connected with the public schools. Mr. Kerr died in 1911.

OBITUARY: Mr. Isaac Atkinson, the aged father of B.F. Atkinson, of Caldwell, [OH] died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mattie Phipps, at Macksburg, [OH], at 7:30 o'clock Wednesday morning, October 17, 1906, from ailments incident to old age, having almost reached the eighty-seventh milestone of his age.

The deceased was born at Cameron, Ohio, in 1819 and since 1837 had been a consistent member of the Christian church and was for many years recognized as elder in the congregations at Cameron and Marietta, [OH]. He had resided at Cameron, Marietta, Newell's Run and eighteen months ago took up his residence with his daughter, Mrs. Phipps, at Macksburg.

The deceased was the father of ten children, six of whom survive, as follows: B.F., of Caldwell; Mrs. R.C. Smithson and Mrs. Mattie Phipps, of Macksburg, [OH]; Mrs. A.F. Chesney of Topeka, Kans.; Mrs. Lillian Kerr, of Parkersburg, W.Va.; Mrs. Rae Quick of Marietta.

The funeral was held at Macksburg, Friday forenoon, the services being conducted by the deceased's nephew, Elder Jesse Beard, of Marion, Ohio, after which the remains were laid to rest by the side of the deceased's compaion [sic], who had preceded him in 1882 [sic], in the Lund Cemetery.
