MILITARY: Washington P. Conger enlisted for the Civil War from Center, Illinois on 18 Sep 1864 in Co. H, 146th Illinois Infantry, as did both his brothers, Benjamin Cortis and David H. The latter was killed while in service, 28 Nov 1867 [sic]. Washington was mustered out of service, 8 Jul 1865, at the close of the war. ANNIVERSARY: 59TH ANNIVERSARY - HARBINE COUPLE CELEBRATED HAPPY EVENT LAST SUNDAY - They have resided in Jefferson County for the past Forty-One Years.

Mr. And Mrs. B. C. Conger of Harbin celebrated their fifty-ninth wedding anniversary at their home in that city last Sunday. A large number of relatives and friends were gathered to assist them on this joyful occasion and the day was one long to be remembered by all present.

Mr. Conger was born in Pennsylvania; in 1861, he united in marriage to Miss Altana Hand of Marshalltown, Iowa. To this union seven children were born, four of which are still living., three daughters and one son, they are Mrs. John Sisler and Mrs. Thomas Rand of Fairbury, Mrs. L. Oaks of Beatrice and E. C. Conger of Edgar.

Mr. and Mrs. Conger are old settlers here, coming to Jefferson County 41 years ago from the state of Iowa.

There were eighty guests at the Conger home last Sunday, including the children, their families and relatives, the W. R. C. and the G. A. R. of Plymouth. All present enjoyed a bountiful dinner which was served from 12 to 4, the bride and groom of fifty-nine years and their children were served from on table while their grand children and great grandchildren, occupied another table. They were the recipients of many valuable and useful presents.

OBITUARY: BENJAMIN C. CONGER

Benjamin Cortis Conger was born at Wilkesville, PA. March 17, 1839. He passed away at his home in this city at 4am December 25, 1928. His age was eighty-eight years, ten months and twenty-three days. He was a son of Calvin Conger and Aranda Horton Conger.

While a small boy, he moved with the family to Wyanet, IL., where he grew to manhood. He was married, at Marshalltown, IA., to Miss Altana Hand in 1861. They resided at Wyanet for a few years, then moved to Marshalltown. Some years later, they moved to Jefferson county, Nebraska, where they remained for forty-two years. Most of that time they lived on a farm. The last ten years of that period were spent in Harbine. Ten years ago, they moved to Beatrice and this city has been their home continuously since that time.

He served as a soldier in the Union army during the Civil war, enlisting in 1863 at Wyanet. He had the unusual experience of serving as a guard over the body of Abraham Lincoln when it lay in state at Springfield. He also accompanied the body to its last resting place.

He leaves his aged wife, Mrs. Altana Conger; four children, Mrs. Sarah Sisler of Fairbury, Mrs. Emma Oakes of Beatrice, Mrs. T. C. Rand of Beatrice, and Elmer Conger of Edgar, Nebraska; four brothers and sisters, Mrs. Susan [Moran] and Will Conger of Princeton, IL., Washington Conger of Marshalltown, IA., and Mrs. Mattie Sharp of Waterloo, IA.; nine grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Mr. Conger was a life long member of the United Brethren church. He was a good Christian man. He was a kind and loving husband and father, always thoughtful of the welfare of his wife and children. He was especially patient during his long period of illness.

Mr. Conger was a hard working man. He shared the experiences that were common among the pioneers a half century ago. Many friends living in the communities where he was best known, join sympathetically in the sorrow caused by his death. His last illness covered a period of about seven weeks.

The funeral service was held at the home, Thursday afternoon, December 27. Rev. C. O. Stuckenbruck had charge of the service. He was assisted by Rev. C. W. Olewine. Music was furnished by Mrs. H. Baker and Mrs. M. S. Calvin. Interment was in Evergreen Home cemetery.

BLOOMINGTON [IL] -- Sara J. "Sally" Havens, 74, of Rochelle, [IL] formerly of Normal, died unexpectedly Wednesday (Nov. 28, 2001) at Rochelle Community
Hospital.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at United Methodist Church of Rochelle, the Rev. Jon Hutchison officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Unger-Horner Funeral Home, Rochelle, is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church or to Rochelle Community Hospital.

She was born Nov. 28, 1927, in Normal, a daughter of L. Eugene and Mary Louise Olmsted Stretch. She married John T. Havens on Nov. 24, 1951, in Normal. He survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Nancy Havens, Earlville; a son, Barry (Barbara) Havens, Garland, Texas; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Elizabeth Wroan. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Rochelle, PEO Sisterhood, DAR, Flagg Township Historical Society, Rochelle Women's Club and Rochelle Hospital Auxiliary.

She graduated from University High School in Normal in 1945 and attended Illinois State University for two years.

She and her husband had recently celebrated their 50th anniversary.

DEATH: Her death certificate reads: Anna Kyger Jenkins, age: 74 years, 10 months, 21 days; place of birth: Vermilion Co., IL; occupation: housekeeping; died: 18th Jan. 1906 at 11:12 a.m. - Georgetown Twp.; buried 20th Jan. 1906 at McKendree Cemetery; cause of death: chronic Nephritis.

OBITUARY: Anna Jenkins Died Friday - Another of oldest Women of Vermilion County passed away

Mrs. Anna Jenkins died at her home three miles south of Grape Creek, Friday. She was 75 years of age.

The deceased was one of the pioneer women of Vermilion County, having been born in Georgetown township. She was known to many, particularly in and about Georgetown and Grape Creek.

She is survived by seven children. Her husband died some years ago.

The funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock on Saturday morning at the McKendree Cemetery.

OBITUARY:
WESTVILLE (CNS) - Verlin Joe Jenkins, 71, of Westville, [IL], Route 1, a retired miner and mechanic, died at 10:05 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 4, 1972) at Lake View Memorial Hospital. He was admitted a short time before and death was attributed to natural causes.

Born July 2, 1901, in Georgetown, he was the son of Willis and Lucinda Smith Jenkins. He was married July 14, 1921, to Mary Biggs, who survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Charles of Pochahontas, Ill., Norman of Westville and Fred of Houston, Tex.; a daughter, Mrs. Phyliss Calin of Danville; a brother Charles of Bismarck; two sisters, Mrs. Lula Watson of Sherwood, Ohio, and Mrs. Maude Black of California; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Urbas Funeral Home. The Rev. Harold Dubre will officiate. Burial will be in McKendree Cemetery near Georgetown. Friends will be received at the funeral home frm 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

GEORGETOWN (CN) - Dorwin Chalmers Jenkins, 58, of 107 Clark, died at 3 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 15, 1972) at the Veterans Administration Hospital.

Born May 9, 1914, in Vermilion County, he was the son of Wilbert and Bessie Jenkins. He was married Aug. 31, 1935 at Rockville, Ind. to Myrtle Williams.

Dorwin was an auto mechanic and was a veteran of World War II. He was a life member of the Gerogetown Sportsman Club and a member of the Dornblaser American Legion Post 203 and Russell Masonic Lodge 154.

Other survivors include his step mother, Mrs. Helen Jenkins of Georgetown; and three sisters, Mrs. Louise York and Mrs. Betty Well, both of Georgetown, and Mrs. Doris Morris of Little Rock, Ark.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Houghton Funeral Home. The Rev. Rex Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Georgetown Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted with masonic services at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

OBITUARY: Death of Mrs. Sarah Kyger
Aged Leader of W.C.T.U., Church and Community Activities Passes Away
She Was 81 Year Old

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Kyger died at 12:30 yesterday afternoon at her home at 1006 North East street after two months's illness with complications incident to old age. She had been bedfast one month.

Mrs. Kyger was the daughter of Robert and Martha English, who were pioneer settlers of Illinois, coming from Ohio. She was born December 10, 1840 in Pike county, Illinois, and came to Bloomington in 1861, where she made her home and attended the Normal university during the civil war, later teaching school for two years at Georgetown, Ill.

October 31, 1865, she was married in Danville to Tilman D. Kyger, who was a captain in the union army. They were the parents of two sons, Herbert E. Kyger, of 1006 North East street, with whom she made her home, and John T. Kyger, who died twenty-seven years ago. Her husband died February 21, 1876.

After the death of her husband, Mrs. Kyger continued for a number of years to make her home in Danville, where she was prominent in church activities and took an active part in the W.C.T.U. work., serving as district treasurer, county president of Vermilion county and local president in Danville.

She moved to Bloomington in 1898, where she united with the Grace M.E. church and became an active worker. She was a public-spirited woman, taking an interest in all affairs for the good of the community. After coming to Bloomington, twenty-three years ago, she became president of the Woman's Foreign Missionary Society of the Grace church, serving for eleven years, and was active in community affairs until three months ago.

Besides her son, Mrs. Kyger is survived by a sister, Mrs. Anna Merritt, of East Gove street, and a brother, English, who recently moved to Bloomington from Decatur.

An incident in the life of Mrs. Kyger, which will be of interest to her friends, happened at the time that Dr. Barnes was connected with the Wesleyan university, when the drive was on for $40,000 to be raised for science hall. A voluntary subscription with a few remarks from Mrs. Kyger at a time when the committees in charge were most discouraged was said by Mr. Barnes to be the turning point in the campaign, and the success of the campaign was largely due to her cheerful and encouraging remarks.

Veselack, Mary E. "Liz" (Miller)

NORMAL, [IL] — Mary E. “Liz” Veselack, 81, Normal, passed away at 2:12 a.m. Monday (Dec. 14, 2009) at the McLean County Nursing Home, Normal.

A private family memorial service will be Thursday at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with inurnment to follow at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. The Rev. Spencer Gillespie will officiate.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 2502 E. College Ave., Bloomington, IL 61704, or the International Music Camp, North Dakota.

Liz was born Nov. 15, 1928, in Manlius, the daughter of William Henry and Sally Rachel Morris Miller. She married Richard D. Veselack on June 10, 1951, in Manlius. He survives.

Also surviving are three children, John (Ellen) Veselack, Los Angles, Calif.; Jane Ann (Paul) Zilmer, Bloomington; and Paul (Anne) Veselack, Libertyville; and six grandchildren, Caleb Zilmer and Andrew Zilmer, both of Medford, Ore.; Esther Zilmer, Bloomington; Teresa Veselack, Libertyville; Kristian Gustafson, San Diego, Calif.; and Isaac Zilmer, Bloomington.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Liz was a member of the First Baptist Church, Bloomington.

She graduated from Manlius High School in 1946 and later graduated from Illinois State Normal University in 1950, with a bachelor’s degree in music education. She taught elementary school in Morton and LeRoy, and later taught in Michigan and Washington State. She and her husband later returned to Normal, where she was a substitute teacher. Following a move to DeKalb, they moved to North Dakota and returned after a year; later moving to Bloomington in 1968, where she taught third grade at Irving and Washington schools until she retired in 1987. She was a member of the Bloomington Education Association and a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her.

First - It is my will and desire that all my just debts, including my funeral expenses, be fully paid.

Second - I hereby will, bequeath and devise to my son, Harry Henthorn, all the property, both real, personal and mixed, wherever situated, that I may own at the time of my death.

I Daniel Kyger of the County of Vermilion and State of Illinois now haveing perfect mind and memory considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and the certainty of death do now make and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit:

1st - that all my just debts be paid

2d - I give unto my daughter Nancy Sue C. Briggs one dollar

3 - I give and bequeath unto my daughter Hannah Kyger thirty-five acres of land of the North end of the East half of the South East quarter of Section 22 and also twenty acres of the North end of the East half of the South West quarter of Section 22 - in Range Eleven W-township No-Eighteen North

4th - I give unto my son John Kyger one dollar

5th - I give unto my daughter Sidney Walton one dollar

6 - I give unto my son James Kyger fifty dollars

My will and wish is for Hannah and Adam to pay this money yearly each in proportion to this sum that is one hundred dollars a year until paid. My wish is for all my personal property to be at the disposal of my wife Anna Kyger.

Conger, Roy

Roy Conger - August 13, 1924 - May 30, 2005

Roy Conger owned and operated Watseka Electric Company in Watseka since 1949 and was active in city government there. He was a dual member of NECA being involved with both the Illinois Chapter as a member of the Champaign-Urbana/Streator-Pontiac Division and the Eastern Illinois Chapter, serving as Vice President until his retirement earlier this year. In addition to being a NECA member for over 50 years, he was a member of Local 134 for 58 years, served on the H & W Board of Local 176, served on the Bd. of Directors of Iroquois Federal, belonged to American Legion Post #23, the Watseka Elks, and was in the Watseka Area Chamber of Commerce for nearly 40 years serving as Vice President for several years. He was also one of the founders of The Classic Thunderbird Owners Club for the Chicagoland Area and was a WWII veteran serving in the U.S. Navy.

Roy is survived by his wife, Dorothy Conger of Watseka, two daughters, Barbara Conger of Naperville, and Marilyn Conger of Watseka. A sister, Lorraine Volkman of Oak Lawn also survives him.

Services will be held in Watseka at the Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, 219 South 4th Street, Watseka, IL. The Wake will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday June 3, and the funeral will be at 11:00 am Saturday, June 4.

Memorials may be made to the Iroquois Memorial Hospice, 841 South 4th Street, Watseka, Il 60970, or to a charity of your choice.

The funeral for Melvin E. Hinthorn, 81, of Sun City AZ, and formerly of Normal, Hudson, and Decatur, [IL] will be at 10 a.m. Monday, at the Metzler-Froelich Memorial Home, Bloomington. The Rev. James Wooton officiating.

Mr. Hinthorn died at 3:30 p.m., Tuesday (Nov. 23, 1999), at Boswell Memorial Hospital, Sun City AZ.

Burial will be in Hudson Cemetery, with military rites accorded by the Louis E. Davis, American Legion Post 56, of Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Sunday, at the memorial home. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Virgal L. Hinthorn

Virgal L. Hinthorn, 88, of 1613 E. Olive St., Bloomington, [IL] died at 2:30 a.m. Monday (Dec. 26, 2000) at Martin Health Center, Bloomington.

His funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, the Rev. Gerald T. Ward officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Mr. Hinthorn was born Oct. 25, 1912, at Hudson. He married Mary A. Niehus on July 27, 1947, at Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Ann Jirard, Redmond, Ore.; four sons, Robert (Judy) Hinthorn, Tucson, Ariz.; Darwin (Betty) Hinthorn, Normal; Richard Hinthorn, Bloomington; and Carl (Judy) Hinthorn, Towanda; and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and a grandson.

Mr. Hinthorn farmed at Barnes for many years. He worked for International Harvester, El Paso, beginning in 1937. He later co-owned the International Harvester in Hudson and in 1949 he became sole owner of the implement store in El Paso. He was involved in land clearing and cutting for the Lake Bloomington project.

Captain Hiram Yoho, Georgetown, farmer and stock-raiser, is a native of Vermilion county, Illinois. He was born the 24th of December, 1836, and has always made his home in the county.

He lived with his parents until 1861. He then enlisted in the 12th Ill. Inf., and was in service three months; he then enlisted in the 35th Ill. as a Private in Co. E, and was in service until the close of the war. He was made Second Sergeant, and in a few months chosen as First Lieutenant, and served as such about one year. He was then made Captain of Co. E, and was in the battles of
Pea Ridge, Nashville, and Corinth. He served mostly on detached duty, transporting prisoners, assisting in drafts in New York and Michigan, etc.

On the 15th of May, 1865 he married Miss Nancy A. Ritter. She was living on the present place. They had five children, four living, vis: Marquis R., Ophelia, Thaddeus and Allen B.

OBITUARY: Aged Georgetown Resident is Dead (Feb. 13, [1924]
Captain Hiram Yoho passed away at home Tuesday night. Funeral Thursday.
February 12 - Captain Hiram Yoho, 89, born and raised in this township, died at his home in Georgetown, [IL] Tuesday night at 3:30. He had been seriously ill for several weeks and for the past 3 or 4 years was an invalid.

Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 10:00. There will be a ? prayer at the house and the regular funeral service will be at the McKendree Church. Burial will be held in the cemetery near by.

Mr. Yoho is survived by one son, T.H. Yoho who lives in McKendree Township, and one daughter, Mrs. Ophelia Moore of this place. One son, Corporal Alden Yoho died in the hospital in New York during the war with Spain. He was a member of Battery A and was taken ill in Porto (sic) Rico. Another son, a R.R. mail clerk, died almost 20 years ago. Mrs. Yoho has been dead several years.

The deceased was born in this Township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Yoho, pioneer residents of the county. He was the oldest of thirteen children. One brother William Yoho resides here and two sisters, ? ?, and Mrs. John Cook are also residents of Georgetown. Three sisters reside in the West. Mr. Yoho was a Captain in the 36th Illinois Volunteers during the Civil war.

Cooley, Leslie "Les"

Leslie “Les”Cooley, age 80, of Fishhook, Il. died Sunday evening (May 31, 2009) at his residence.

He was born January 29, 1929 in Fishhook, Il. son of the late Leone and Ella Whitaker Cooley.

He married Donna L. Nunn on June 19, 1954 in Chambersburg, Il. and she preceded him in death on July 30, 1992.

Surviving are daughters, Joan Glenn and husband Robert of Versailles, Il. and their children, Bethina, Jessica, Rebekah; Kathy Feenstra and husband Doug of Fishhook, Il. and their children, Levi, Jason, and Lora; Rose Mary Garrett and husband Merle of Chambersburg, Il. and children Anthony, Timothy, Tiffiny, and Andy; two sons, Lyle Cooley and wife Cindy of Chambersburg, Il. and their children, Elizabeth and Mari; and Jerry Cooley and wife Pam of Rushville, Il. and children, Benjamin, Lucas, Ariane, and Celeste; five great-grandchildren, Korbyn, Liam, Alexandra, Logan, and Emily; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one grandson, Eric Michael Feenstra; one sister, Leola Smith; and three brothers, Elza Cooley, Melvin Cooley, and Herbert Cooley.

Mr. Cooley farmed all his life in Fishhook area. Les loved playing in the creek and having “wiener –roasts”. He also loved listening to country music and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Woodland Church and a trustee for Woodland Cemetery Association. He was also a Fairmount township board trustee, and one of the original trustees for the North Pike Fire Protection District. Les also worked for the Fairmount Road Commissioner for several years.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Thursday (June 4, 2009) at Woodland Church in Fishhook, Il. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Airsman-Hires Chapel in Griggsville, Il. Obituary: Susie Mae Hinthorn, 67, of Mission, Texas, formerly of Peoria, died Tuesday, March 9, 1993, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas.

She was born in Denver and married William Hinthorn. He survives.

Also surviving are her mother, Mary Frisbie of Denver; one son, William of Overland Park, Kan.; four daughters, Dianne Durham and Joanne Wikoff, both of Peoria, Janet Brown of Washington and Carol Mohney of Knoxville, Tenn.; several brothers and sisters; and six grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria at a later date. Arrangements are by Virgil Wilson & Sons Mortuary in Mission.

Obituary: CREVE COEUR -- Rose F. Slusher, 89, of 804 E. Divison, Peoria Heights, formerly of Creve Coeur, died at 11:28 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 1993, at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

Born Aug. 13, 1904, in Creve Coeur to Joseph B. and Jennie A. Hinthorn Serpette, she married Frank L. Slusher on Feb. 16, 1927, in Peoria. He died May 24, 1985. One brother and two sisters also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Charlotte) Mathews of Peoria Heights; and one grandson.

She was a silver polisher in the banquet kitchen at the Hotel Pere Marquette in Peoria for 28 years.

She was a member of Neighborhood House in Peoria, where she was active with the Tuesday and Wednesday Club, Travel Club and the American Association of Retired Persons.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria. The Rev. Leonard Martz will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.

Obituary: PEORIA -- Phillip C. Baxter, 62, of Peoria, formerly of Camdenton, Mo., died at 12:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 1994, in King man, Ariz.

Born Feb. 17, 1932, in Peoria to William and Goldie Lance Baxter, he married Shirley A. Hinthorn on Dec. 19,1953, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, James and Roger, both of Peoria; three daughters, Mrs. Billy (Cindy) Halstead, Mrs. Nathan (Sherry) Miller and Crystal Baxter, all of Peoria; eight grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Gerald (Joyce) Collins of Peoria. He was preceded in death by one brother.

He was a firefighter for the Peoria Fire Department for 28 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Illinois Association of Retired Fire Fighters and Fire Fighters Local 544. He was a member of Elks Lodge 20 in Peoria.

He was an Air Force veteran.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, where Elks services will be at 5:45 p.m. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria.

Obituary: CHILLICOTHE -- Services for Tommy "Splash" Henthorn, 24, of 4418 Cloverdale Road, who was pronounced dead at 10:42 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, 1994, at 5023 Rome West Road, Rome, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Davi son-Fulton Anderson Chapel.

He worked for Noah Herman Sons and was last manager of Charlie's Place.

He was a member of SBMC.

Obituary: PEORIA -- Paul E. Cochran, 84, of 1043 Madonna Drive, Quincy, formerly of Peoria, died Wednesday, April 3, 1996, at Rosewood Care Center in Galesburg.

Born March 4, 1912, in Pike County to Charles A. and Margaret Ellen Henthorn Cochran, he married Lela May Standbridge on June 15, 1935, in Springfield, Mo. She died Sept. 1, 1991. Two brothers also preceded him in death.

Surviving are three sons, Marvin E. of Galesburg, Collin M. of Mapleton and Van E. of Martinsville; two daughters, Mrs. Bill (Wanda Lea) Bonner of Wheatridge, Colo., and Mrs. Frank (Iva Dell) Johnson of Los Angeles; one brother, William R. of Atchison, Kan.; two sisters, Vera M. Kill of Liberty and Gladys M. Major of Cedartown, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He graduated from Western Illinois State Teacher's College in Macomb. He was a teacher and principal for 42 years. He taught in Liberty, Kinderhook, Concord and Williamsfield. He taught in Peoria the last 31 years of his career and also coached, retiring in 1974.

He was a former member of Kinderhook Methodist Church. He attended Richfield Methodist Church and Williamsfield Methodist Church. He was a member of Peoria Independent Sports Club.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home in Quincy, where visitation will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Burial will be in Samuel Taylor Cemetery in Rockport.

Memorials may be made to Richfield Methodist Church or any charity.
