MARRIAGE: Okey Eller married Gay Ferrell on 17 Oct 1925 in New Martinsville, Wetzel Co., WV (21/392).

RESIDENCES: Okey Eller lived at the home place - Home of Charles A. Eller & family. This is located on ridge above Proctor, WV near a place that used to be called Highland.  There was a school there many years ago.

OBITUARY:  Okey Eller Dies
Okey Eller, 91, of Proctor, [WV], died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1991, in Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville, [WV].

He was born July 22, 1900, [Proctor, Wetzel Co., WV] son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Yoho Eller.

He was a retired self-employed farmer, a retired truck driver for the Ohio Power Co., a retired deputy assessor for Wetzel County and a member of the Proctor Christian Disciples of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gay Ferrel Eller; a son, Lemoyne; three brothers; a sister.

Surviving are two sons, Robert of Martinsville and Jack of Proctor; two daughters, Mrs. William (Glenda) Kaufman and Mrs. John (Lorna) Miller, both of Proctor; a brother, Thad of Proctor; three sisters, Mrs. Harry (Neva) Ritz of Moundsville, Mrs. Alfred (Freda) Stewart of Akron, Ohio and Dollie Chambers of Conroe, Texas; 11 grandchildren.

Friends were received at Grisell Funeral Home, Fatcliffe Chapel, New Martinsville, where services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Floyd Richmond and Rev. George Culp.  Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery, New Martinsville, [WV].

Problem: Was he born in Wetzel Co., or Marshall Co., WV?  Obituary lists, Wetzel Co., WV.  Vernon Anderson lists, Marshall Co., WV.

MARRIAGE: 9 Oct 1897 in Wetzel Co., WV.  He was 27 and she was 20.  Her father, Jackson Yoho gave his consent.

RELATIONSHIP: Charles A. Eller and his wife, Elizabeth Yoho, were 2nd cousins, 1 generation removed.  Their common ancestor was Peter Yoho.

Problem: Was the date of marriage, 9 Oct 1896 as listed in the obituary or 9 Oct 1897 as listed by Vernon Anderson and Clarice Stanley?

DEATH: Charles A. Eller died of cerebral hemorrhage on 15 May 1938 at Proctor,
Wetzel Co., WV at the age of 68 years, 0 months, 21 days.

OBITUARY: Charles A. Eller of Wetzel County Dies
Charles A. Eller, 68, widely known Wetzel county farmer, died unexpectedly at 5 o'clock Sunday morning [15 May 1938] at his home in Proctor district, [Wetzel Co., WV], on Proctor rural route 1.  He was stricken with apoplexy just after arising from bed Sunday morning.

The body was taken to the Mason funeral home and was returned this afternoon to the late home.  Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Antioch Christian church of which he was a member, conducted by Rev. O.G. Mozena.  Burial will be in Antioch cemetery.

Mr. Eller was born in Wetzel county [WV] April 24, 1870.  He was married on October 9, 1896 to Miss Ellen Yoho, who survives him, along with the following sons and daughters:  Buryl Eller of Taylor's Ridge, Mrs. Neva Ritz of Cameron, [WV], Miss Vera Eller of Charleston, Miss Freda Eller of New Martinsville, Okey, Yonsell and Miss Dolly Eller of Proctor, Sherman Eller of Proctor RFD 1, and Thad Eller at home.  Also surviving are the following sisters:  Mrs. Elizabeth Lemons of Cameron, Mrs. Rose Parsons of Moundsville, Mrs. Bessie Kimes of Newark, Ohio, Mrs. Georgia Downs of Hundred, [WV], Mrs. Violet Kerns of Fairmont and Mrs. Eva McCracken of Cameron.
