Gerwick, Verda V. (Hinthorn)

LEXINGTON -- Verda V. Gerwick, 83, of Lexington, [IL] died at 8:50 p.m. Saturday (July 19, 2003) at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in El Paso, [IL]. Her graveside service will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Hinthorn Cemetery, Lake Bloomington, the Rev. Steve Estes officiating. Her visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Musselman-Beck Funeral Home in Lexington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lexington Geneological and Historical Society.

She was born on Sept. 18, 1919, at Normal, to Earl and Velettie Venetta Vangraft Hinthorn. She married Welby "Web" Gerwick on Aug. 6, 1948, at Weldon, Ark. He died Jan. 10, 1998. She was previously married to Hyle Stamm. He also preceded her in death along with her parents and two granddaughters.

Survivors include: a daughter, Sandra K. (Robert) Moore of Lexington; a son, Chuck (Debra) E. Gerwick of Bloomington; a sister, Norma Sutton of Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Tim (Melinda) Moore of Palos Heights; David Moore of Lexington; and Jonathan and Elizabeth Gerwick both of Bloomington; and two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Welby Moore both of Palos Heights.

She was seamstress for many years of her life.

She founded the Lexington Genealogy and Historical Society in 1963. She was nominated for Women of the Year with Who's Who of American Women in 1992.
