OBITUARY:

Carl Linwood "Buck" Tennant, 82, of New Haven [WV], passed away on March 3, 2011, at his home. He was born on June 1, 1928, in Power, Brooke County, West Virginia, son of the late Clarence Raymond and Blanche Pearl Whitman Tennant. 

He retired from the AEP Phillip Sporn Plant where he was a maintenance foreman. He enjoyed spending time with his family and working with the horses on his farm.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Mary Jane Noel Tennant; two children, Lenny (Rhonda) Tennant and Debbie (Frank) White; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother, Richard (Debbie) Tennant; and sister, Betty (Bob) Sayre.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Anderson Funeral Home in New Haven with Pastor Mike Finnicum officiating. Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

OBITUARY:

Burl Rex Tennant, 66, of Mason, W. Va., died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 1989, in Huntington [Cabell Co.] “WV” Hospital.

He was born May 3, 1923, in Brave [Greene Co., PA], a son of Lucy Stiles Tennant of Brave and the late Melford “Poon” Tennant.

He was a retired employee of the Kaiser Aluminum Co. in Ravenswood, WV, and earlier work for the DuPont Corp. in Morgantown, WV.

He was a veteran of World War ll. He was a member of the United Brethren Church in Mason and the American Legion.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Bessie Dylon Tennant; of Newport Richie, Fla., Rodney Tennant of Tampa, Fla., and Keith Tennant at home; three daughters, Sandy White of Morgantown, Candy Ann Gunn of Parkersburg, W. Va., and Taresia [sic, Teresa] Tennant at home; seven grandchildren; a brother, the Rev. Chester Tennant of Gent, W. Va.; and a sister, Gayle Haught of Bula, W. Va.

Basil C. Tennant, 78, of LaSalle, [CO] died at the Weld County general hospital here [Greeley, Weld Co., CO] at 12:45 a.m. Sunday [22 Feb 1953].  He had been a patient at the hospital eight days.

Mr. Tennant was a retired butcher. Born at Morgantown, [Monongalia Co.,] W.Va., Oct 8, 1874, he had lived at LaSalle six years.

He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Alice ? [(R. Jameson)] Tennant, and two children: Ralph M. Tennant at LaSalle and Mrs. Grace ? Valentine of Portland, Ore., also a brother, Ross Tennant of Salt Lake City.

Funeral services for B. C. Tennant of LaSalle will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon [25 Feb 1953] from  ...

OBITUARY:

Arzie Tennant, aged 69 years, resident of Statlers Run died yesterday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Arlie Arnett, Statlers Run, after an illness of 10 days from a complication of diseases.

His wife is deceased. There are four children, Mrs. Arlie Arnett, Mrs. Arlie Wright, Glenn and Nimrod Tennant, seven grandchildren also survive.

The deceased leaves four brothers and three sisters, Luther, Ross, Judge and Nelson Tennant, Mrs. Lewis Henderson, Mrs. Fletcher Simpson and Mrs. Abe Moore.

Arnold H. Tennant, 52, of Pine Bank, RD 1 [Greene Co., PA], died suddenly Saturday, Oct. 9, 1965, in the University Medical Center, Morgantown, [Monongalia Co.,] W. Va.

He was born Aug. 27, 1913, at Pine Bank [Greene Co., PA], a son of the late Charles C. and Ethel Frankenberry Tennant.

Mr. Tennant resided most of his life in the Pine Bank area where he was a member of the Bula Baptist Church. He was a member of UMWA No. 2122 and was employed at the Pursglove No. 15 mine.

He married Irene Headlee, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Ralph Tennant, of Davistown, Franklin Tennant, serving with the US Army in Hawaii, and Robert Tennant, serving with the US Army at Ft. Hood, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Doris Byrd, of Topeka, Kan,; one sister, Dorotha, wife of Roy Wells, of Brownsville; and eight grandchildren.

One daughter, Elaine, is deceased.

Andy Tennant, 64, of Route 3, Fairview, [Wetzel Co.,] W. Va. Died unexpectedly Saturday evening, April 23, 1966 at his home.

A retired coal miner, he was born March 25, 1902 at Fairview to Nelson Tennant, who survives and the late Margaret Wilson Tennant. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church at Jake's Run.

Also surviving is his wife, Audie Ellen Tennant; two sons, Robert Nelson Tennant of Fairview, Route 1 and David Andrew Tennant of Fairview, Route 3; four daughters, Mrs. Carol Thomas of Fairmont, Mrs. Mary Lou Lemley of Mt. Morris [Greene Co., PA], Mrs. Rebecca Steele of Fairview, Route 3 and Diane Sue, at home.

Also nine grandchildren; five brothers, John of Millersburg, Ohio; Wayne and Wilbert, both of Fairview, Route 3; Roy of Pentress, W. Va. and Nelson Jr. of Leesburg, Fla. And two sisters, Mrs. Emma Moore of Mooresville, W. Va. And Mrs. Ossie Cross of Fairview, Route 3.

Three brothers and a sister are deceased.

OBITUARY: A. F. TENNANT DIES SUNDAY
Funeral Services to be Held Wednesday Afternoon

Alpha F. Tennant, 73, died early yesterday morning [Abt. 13 Nov 1931] at his home near Fairview [WV] from an illnes[s] of about two years duration.

Mr. Tennant had been a citizen of the upper Monongalia County section all his life and was outstanding in his community. He was a member of the Methodist Church at Haugh[t]s' Chapel for 30 years.

The following children survive: W. N. Tennant, Mrs. Sarah H. Wilson and Mrs. Minnie Wright, all of Fairview, route 1; Charles D. Tennant, of Fairview; Mrs. Esta E. Toothman, of Bradford, Pa., and Harley G. Tennant, of Wadestown, route 1. One son is deceased. Two brothers, Stephen Tennant, of Daybrook, and Clark Tennant, of Wadestown, and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Cook, of near Fairview, and Mrs. Alice Pyles, of Daybrook, also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the Haught's Chapel Church. Burial will be made in the Ammons Cemetery by H. E. Curry of Fairview.
