OBITUARY:
Rachel Matilda Goddard, age 76 years, wife of Moses Goddard of New Martinsville (Route 1), West Virginia, died at her home Monday evening [22 May 1939] at 10 o'clock following an illness of six weeks. The remains were removed to the Wharton Funeral Home and prepared for burial and were returned to her late residence Wednesday afternoon.

Funeral services were held on Thursday at 2 o'clock at the Paden Fork Chapel by Rev. R. B. Carver. Burial followed in the Kendall Cemetery.

Mrs. Goddard was born in Proctor District [Wetzel Co., WV, Abt. 1863], the daughter of Elias Hafer [and Sarah J. Morrison].

In addition to her husband [Moses Benton Goddard], she is survived by four sons, Charles Goddard, Wilford Goddard, and Lawrence Goddard of New Martinsville Route 1, and Andy Goddard of Midvale, Ohio. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. One brother, Bruce Hafer, of Jackson county, West Virginia, also survives.

OBITUARY:  Okey Eller Dies
Okey Eller, 91, of Proctor, [WV], died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 1991, in Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville, [WV].

He was born July 22, 1900, [Proctor, Wetzel Co., WV] son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Yoho Eller.

He was a retired self-employed farmer, a retired truck driver for the Ohio Power Co., a retired deputy assessor for Wetzel County and a member of the Proctor Christian Disciples of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gay Ferrel Eller; a son, Lemoyne; three brothers; a sister.

Surviving are two sons, Robert of Martinsville and Jack of Proctor; two daughters, Mrs. William (Glenda) Kaufman and Mrs. John (Lorna) Miller, both of Proctor; a brother, Thad of Proctor; three sisters, Mrs. Harry (Neva) Ritz of Moundsville, Mrs. Alfred (Freda) Stewart of Akron, Ohio and Dollie Chambers of Conroe, Texas; 11 grandchildren.

Friends were received at Grisell Funeral Home, Fatcliffe Chapel, New Martinsville, where services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Floyd Richmond and Rev. George Culp.  Interment in Greenlawn Cemetery, New Martinsville, [WV].

OBITUARY: Charles A. Eller of Wetzel County Dies
Charles A. Eller, 68, widely known Wetzel county farmer, died unexpectedly at 5 o'clock Sunday morning [15 May 1938] at his home in Proctor district, [Wetzel Co., WV], on Proctor rural route 1.  He was stricken with apoplexy just after arising from bed Sunday morning.

The body was taken to the Mason funeral home and was returned this afternoon to the late home.  Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Antioch Christian church of which he was a member, conducted by Rev. O.G. Mozena.  Burial will be in Antioch cemetery.

Mr. Eller was born in Wetzel county [WV] April 24, 1870.  He was married on October 9, 1896 to Miss Ellen Yoho, who survives him, along with the following sons and daughters:  Buryl Eller of Taylor's Ridge, Mrs. Neva Ritz of Cameron, [WV], Miss Vera Eller of Charleston, Miss Freda Eller of New Martinsville, Okey, Yonsell and Miss Dolly Eller of Proctor, Sherman Eller of Proctor RFD 1, and Thad Eller at home.  Also surviving are the following sisters:  Mrs. Elizabeth Lemons of Cameron, Mrs. Rose Parsons of Moundsville, Mrs. Bessie Kimes of Newark, Ohio, Mrs. Georgia Downs of Hundred, [WV], Mrs. Violet Kerns of Fairmont and Mrs. Eva McCracken of Cameron.

Friend F. Daugherty was born January 21, 1923, in Proctor [Wetzel, WV], son of the late Charles E. and Ruth Ann Yoho Daugherty. [Died, 13 Mar 2013 at Clarksburg, Harrison Co., WV]

He married [W.] Jean Dent.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years, Jean; sons, Chuck (Kay) and Danny (Linda) Daugherty; daughter, Ruth (Harley) Jeffries; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and sister, Helen Polen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harold, Ray, George, Lloyd and Clarence Daugherty and sister, Laura Stock.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy.

OBITUARY:
Friend William Goddard, of Proctor, was born April 8, 1884 [in West Virginia] and departed this life, December 4, 1942, at the age of 58 years, 7 months, and 29 days.  He had been in poor health for several years.

He became a member of the Christian Church, sixteen years ago.

He was united in marriage to Cecelia Hafer on June 13, 1909 and to their union four children were born:  Clarence Melvin Goddard, of Mingo Junction, Ohio; Lawrence Bernard Goddard, of Proctor; one daughter, Golda Mae Cecil, of Proctor.  One son preceded him in death.  Also surviving are four brothers: Clarence Goddard, of Jacksonburg; Francis Goddard, of American Ridge; Russel Goddard of Proctor; Johnnie Goddard, of Martins Ferry, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. John Smith of Clarington, O.; Mrs. Homer Kocher, of Bridgeport, O.; nine grandchildren, one foster daughter, Bernice Kirk, and a host of more distant relatives and many friends.

He was laid to rest in the Goddard Cemetery.

RESIDENCES: Brushey Ridge, Marshall Co., WV until 1907 when he moved to Proctor, WV.  He purchased a home from Leonard Moore.  It was located between two general stores, Herrick Bros. and Proctor Merchandise Company.  There was a drilled well on the property and it was more or less a community well. Neighbors came to get their drinking water from it everyday.

OCCUPATION: After 1907 Albert and Christopher Yoho owned and operated the Proctor Milling Company a feed mill at Proctor, WV.  At that time Proctor was a thriving little town and the mill was a prosperous business until the Depression.

OBITUARY:
Albert Yoho, 64, operator of the Proctor Milling company at Proctor [,WV] succumbed to a heart attack at noon Tuesday [April 1941] while enroute along the street near his home.  He had been active for 35 years or more at Proctor and was a member of the Christian church at that place.

Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Lena Gatts Yoho and the following children: Mrs. Nora Rithner of Wellsburg; Lester Yoho of Hanlins Station, PA; Mrs. Audrey Farson of Canonsburg, PA; Miss Faye Yoho and Carl Yoho of Hollidays Cove; and Mrs. Wanda Bucy at home, also 14 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held in the Proctor Christian church Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock and burial was in Northview cemetery.
