OBITUARY: Miss Mary Atkinson Dies at Her Home in Caldwell Following Lingering Illness.
CALDWELL, O., Jan. 7 -- Miss Mary Atkinson, aged 67, on of Caldwell's most highly respected and well loved women, succumbed to a lingering illness of complications at 12:45 Saturday morning at the family home on Main street. Miss Atkinson was the daughter of the late B.F. Atkinson, well known business man of Caldwell, [OH], and Martha Eagler Atkinson. She was born at Macksburg and came to Caldwell to the Main street home 48 years ago, where she has since resided.
She received her education in the State School for the Blind, where she graduated in music. She was a musician of note and a teacher of music for many years. She was also a vocalist and loved to sing the old hymns and songs so dear to her heart. She was a charter member of the First Church of Christ in Caldwell, [OH] and was gifted with an unusual memory and was an earnest student of the Bible, having taught in the Sunday school for many years until her health failed two years ago.
Surviving are two sisters: Mrs. Harry Brennan of Columbus, who has remained with her sister during her last illness, and Mrs. David Quick of Caldwell, who is spending the winter in Miami, Fla.; also two brothers, W.F. Atkinson of near Caldwell and C.F. Atkinson of Cambridge.
Funeral services will be held from the First Church of Christ Monday afternooon
at 1 o'clock conducted by Rev. Charles W. Perry and interment in the family lot
in the Olive cemetery, east of Caldwell, [OH].

OBITUARY: Mamie Atkinson
Miss Mamie Atkinson, aged 67, one of the most beloved characters in Noble county, [OH], passed away at her home on Main street, Saturday morning at 12:45 o'clock. Death came after a lingering illness of two years duration.
Miss Atkinson was the daughter of the late B.F. Atkinson, former well known business man of Caldwell, and Martha [E]agler Atkinson. She was born at Macksburg, [OH] and spent her early girlhood here. Some 48 years ago she moved to the family [home] on Main street, where she has since resided.
The deceased was blind her entire life, She was a[n] alumna of the State School for the Blind at Columbus and a graduate in music. She had a unusual accomplishment for music, and loved to sing the old church hymns that were dear to her heart. She taught music in Caldwell for several years. She was a charter member of the First Church of Christ and had an unusual knowledge of the Bible. She taught Sunday School class until two years ago, when she was unable to attend church due to her illness.
Surviving are two sisters: Mrs. Harry Brennen of Columbus, who has been at the home of her sister, during her illness, and Mrs. David Quick of Main street, who is spending the winter months in Miami, Fla.; two brothers, W.F. Atkinson of Caaldwell [sic] route and C.F. Atkinson, Cambridge, [OH].
Last rites were held at the First Church of Christ Monday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, Rev. Charles W. Perry officiating. Brief services were held at the home, after which the cortege left for the church. Burial was made in the Olive cemetery by Mills and Wheeler, funeral directors.
