RESEARCHER: According to Dale F. Miller, Yoho family researcher, he sometimes asked Darrell Conger to do research for him in Parkersburg, WV.

MILITARY: U.S. Army Veteran

OBITUARY: Darrel F. Conger Darrel [sic, Darrell] F. Conger, 64, of Parkersburg [WV] died Jan 4, [sic, should read, 3rd] 2000 at his residence.

He was born in Wirt County and was a U. S. Army Veteran.

Survivors include one nephew, Gerald Moore of Sistersville; and one niece, Bonnye Moore Sholmire of Charlotte, N. C.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lillian Conger Moore; and one infant sister.

There will be no services.  Arrangements by Lambert-Tateman Funeral Home, South Parkersburg.

DEATH-COMMENT: This is a note [about the death] written by a Dan Huddleston; I was looking for this message. I had heard that the man who "lived' at the Wood County Records Room had died. I knew immediately who they were talking about, and I'm sure anyone else who had been up there too, even if they never knew his name. I had been up there 7 or 8 times over the last 8 years, and written him another 10 times. He knew more about the records there than some of the younger clerks. He helped everyone whether you offered him any money or not, whether you knew anything about Wood County or not, or had ever been to a courthouse before. He helped everyone from teenagers looking for grandma to grandmas doing research. He always had ideas on how to find the information you needed even when the record wasn't there. Research in Wood County will never be the same, even if the records are still there.
